Summary:

This ELECTRI Early Career Award study by Colorado State University graduate student, Fred Lewis, focused on the involvement of electrical contractors in Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). Under the mentorship of Professor Mehmet Ozbek, Lewis examined construction processes based on the position and responsibilities of project team members and/or stakeholders. The study explored the involvement of Electrical Contractors in IPD by focusing on ways to

  • gain a better understanding of the EC point of view how it will affect their willingness to participate, and ability to be successful in IPD projects.
  • identify issues and risks for electrical contractors to participate in projects using IPD.
  • provide recommendations to the EC industry to address the identified issues and risks.

Dr. Mehmet Ozbek gave a presentation about the research project to the ELECTRI Council at a meeting during the NECA Convention in Las Vegas on September 30, 2012. The presentation can be downloaded here.
