Education Center
Albert & Margaret Wendt, Phoenix, Arizona
Education is integral to the Foundation's commitment to our industry. Most of ELECTRI International's commissioned research is "translated" into useable, contractor-speak educational programs offered throughout the country in partnership with NECA's Management Education Institute. The Education Center now has an endowment of $1.4 million. It began with a generous $1 million commitment from Al and Margaret Wendt (Cannon & Wendt, Phoenix). The Wendt Trust provides annual scholarships to NECA Chapters to help them take advantage of available education programs for chapter members. Each year, Foundation leaders come together as advisors to the Education Center to select and fund additional, strong education programs that specifically benefit contractors' management skills and practices.
Recognizing that transition, retirement, and estate planning are key financial factors that every electrical contractor must address, Dick and Darlene McBride made a $250,000 commitment to establish the Legacy Initiative -- a concentrated effort to help educate contractors about the variety of ways that they can structure their estate plan to maximize income and, at the same time, give back to the industry that has been such an important part of their lives and their success.
